Habe mich soeben unter www.hpu.edu/readysetgo für die Orientation Week registriert. Und damit der Spaß auch nicht zu kurz kommt, habe ich die Rundfahrt, den Sonnenaufgang auf dem Daimond Head und den AquaPark gleich mitgebucht

Wo nehmt ihr so dran teil?

Aloha,
habe mich auch gerade für die orientation week angemeldet und noch zusätzlich die Rundfahrt, die Fahrt mit dem Katamaran und das Polynesian Cultural Center gebucht. War zwar nicht gerade billig, aber wenn man schon mal da ist, sollte man doch auch alles gesehen haben...
Das Polynesian Cultural Center soll auch wirklich sein Geld wert sein! Habe das schon von mehrern gehört, die auch an der HPU waren. Das geht den ganzen Tag und man bekommt einen sehr guten Einblick in das Leben der Ureinwohner. Außerdem gibt es was Gutes zum Essen...
Bin schon gespannt, was ihr so macht...

ich werd an der Rundfahrt teilnehmen, mir den Sonnenaufgang anschaun und ich werd im Aqua Park die Rutschen unsicher machen
Dieser Cultur Center war mir dann doch ein wenig zu teuer!

Hey Leute,

hat bei Euch die Zahlung per PayPal geklappt? Obwohl ich bereits ein PayPal Konto hatte, bekam ich nach ein paar Tagen die Meldung, dass die Zahlung dem Empfänger nicht übermittelt werden konnte. Weiß jemand, ob man auch noch vor Ort oder auf andere Weise zahlen kann?

habe gerade Antwort auf meine Mail an die HPU bezüglich meiner Paypal-Probleme bekommen: Das Geld sei dennoch angekommen, alles bestens, die Tickets gibt es dann am 28.08, dem 1. Tag der Orientation Week am Empfang. Also alles bestens, AquaPark ich komme

Aloha,

bin auch dabei - mache die sunrise tour (diamond head) und natürlich die obligatorische katamaran tour mit (da sollte man sich laut berichten guten sonnenschutz und am besten mittelchen gegen übelkeit mitnehmen, da das meer an manchen tagen doch ganz schön unruhig sein kann)..und natürlich die ganzen aktivitäten, die umsonst sind
vor allem die fette party am winward campus soll der hammer sein...

Location: Downtown Campus, Upper Fort Street Mall
Check-in at the Concierge Tent located on upper Fort Street Mall on the Downtown campus. At check-in you will receive an HPU Passport name tag and schedule.


10:30am-11:30am Concurrent Information Sessions
C. Welcome! Insider's Tips for International Students
Location: Downtown Campus, Warmer Auditorium, 1060 Bishop St.
How do I get my HPU student Identification card? What is a “Social Security Number”? Where are the “bargain discount” stores? How do I open a bank account? How do I fill out a rental application? Do I need a driver’s license? Get your questions answered and useful tips and practical survival skills to ease the transition to HPU and Hawai`i. Topics range from cultural awareness to opening up a bank account, and will include a question and answer section to address specific concerns. This session is recommended for ALL international students.

10:30am-12pm Dean's Welcome & Reception
Meet the College Dean and faculty members, ask questions pertaining to courses being offered and the various majors, speak with a University advisor, discuss extra-curricular involvement, and meet current students studying in the College.

3pm Tour Options: E-Noa Trolley Tour. Meet at Downtown Campus, Upper Fort Street Mall

7pm-9pm Cosmic Bowling
Location: Fort Shafter Bowling Center
Cosmic Bowling is always a fun-filled escapade! Bowl the night away with new friends, faculty and staff—prizes will be given away for top team and individual scores.


Wednesday, Aug. 30

A. Voyage through the HPU Pipeline
Location: Downtown Campus, Warmer Auditorium, 1060 Bishop St.
Learn how to stay in touch and get the news of the day by using Pipeline. You also have access to your class schedule, final grades, classified ads, free e-mail account, and more!

10:30am-11:30am Concurrent Information Sessions
A. Living in Hawai`i and Experiencing Culture Shock
Location: Downtown Campus, Warmer Auditorium, 1060 Bishop St.
For those new to Hawaii and the diversity of cultures, this session is for you! Get an overview of Hawai`i's people, places, and traditions.

1:30pm-2:30pm Concurrent Information Sessions
A. Exploring Ways to Get Involved: Student Life Outside the Classroom
Location: Downtown Campus, Warmer Auditorium, 1060 Bishop St.

1:30pm-3:30pm Viewpoints Film Series Kick-Off
Location: Downtown Campus, Sea Warrior Center, Historic Blaisdell Hotel
HPU’s Viewpoints Film Series Kick-Off will be showing “The Ride: Back to the Soul of Surfing” (Audience Award Winner for Best Feature at the Hawaii International Film Festival). This film is about a “cocky, young surfing champion David Monroe who wipes out on a big wave and slips back in time to 1911 Hawaii where he discovers the true spirit of surfing when he is befriended by a young Hawaiian beach boy not yet known to the world—the future Olympic and surfing legend Duke Kahanmoku.”

5:30pm-7:30pm Ali’i Kai Catamaran Sunset Cruise
Location: Depart from Aloha Tower

8:30am-10am Information Session: Exploring Community Service
Location: Hawai`i Loa Campus, Academic Center, HPU Theatre and Rooms 202, 203, 204
Get to know HPU and Hawai`i in this unique experience. We begin with a short presentation on three topics: poverty, the environment, and culture. Get a chance to discuss the information and respond with action through community service at 10am.

10pm-12am Aloha Bash Dance
Location: Hawai`i Loa Campus, Academic Center, Lanai
Enjoy your Friday evening in Hawai`i dancing under the stars at the windward Hawai`i Loa campus. Mingle with new and continuing HPU students while you eat some pizza, participate in contests, and listen to the sounds of one of Hawai`i's most popular DJs.
